It’s with an unbelievable feeling of immense pride that I can now reveal my debut signature snare ‘The Machine’ the new Design Lab artist series snare drum from Mapex Drums
To have a signature product is rare with an A list drum company and is something I dreamed of growing up and if I had a chance I wanted it to be something that people would really enjoy playing. I’ve been testing it this year and making subtle changes alongside Russ Miller and the team at Mapex and I’m absolutely delighted with the results
The drum is a 14×5.5 6 ply Walnut/Maple hybrid with a specially commissioned Aquarian Drumheads Hi-Energy batter and Classic Clear reso head, sonic saver hoops and offset black nickel lugs 45 degree bearing edges top and bottom, Puresound ‘Equaliser’ 16 strand snare wires, with a very special multi step ‘Trick’ throw off
It’s an honour beyond words to have a signature line for Mapex and it will be installed onto my touring rig with immediate effect. I want to thank Russ, Bob, Martin and Mapex for having faith in me and putting my name to a global product, this is without question one of the highlights of my musical career.
My drum is out in the Spring, if you see it in your local music store around the world, I hope you enjoy playing the drum as much I’ve enjoyed seeing it sketched out on paper and piece by piece slowly coming to life to the wonderful instrument it is now
